From Attrition to ATTRACTION!
Anyone who has had any experience in network marketing knows about attrition, that awful, relentless loss of people in your business. We can stop it, but first we need to understand why it occurs at all!
People Who Are Earning Money Do Not Quit
Research shows us that there’s a “tipping point” in earnings that is crucial in determining whether a person gives up, or stays. That tipping point, believe it or not, is a measely $375 a month regular commission.
So we need to accept that the reason that people quit is primarily that they are not earning even a pittance, and that in fact it is probably costing them to be in the business, rather than earning an income.
So Let’s Move onto the Reasons Why People Do Not Earn Even a Pittance
The number 1 reason people don’t earn money is that there is no-one in the business who can show them how. There will always be plenty of people who are very happy to TELL them how, but not to show them.
Unfortunately for the new person, all this TELLING is usually absolutely BAD ADVICE anyway because their mentors don’t actually know what works, and are just passing on the latest BS to be passed down from their own mentors in turn!
The number 2 reason is that even with the right mentor, doing the work for the new person hands on, some people will not even get off the couch. So this number 2 reason is that we weren’t discriminating enough about whom we invited to join us. However that takes us back to reason number 1 because a skilful mentor would never have enrolled that couch potato anyway!
What Is the Right Way to Start People, So They Earn Money and Never Want to Quit?
Firstly we need to be more discriminating, and build into our marketing sequence a filtering aspect. This filtering aspect automatically filters out lazy people, because if someone won’t even take the time to watch a 20-minute video, then they’re not going to be suitable for a business. If someone won’t even do a 15-minute homework assignment that will give them a massive advantage by eliminating every hearing a “no” from a prospect, then clearly they are not going to be suitable for the business. So you would not enrol that person because they’re not, at that time, ready.
Secondly we need to have an actual, proven, effective training sequence to deliver the skills that will build the new person’s business very quickly and very surely. To achieve this the new person just needs to learn 2 very simple things:
- Who is and who is not a good prospect or customer (very easy to recognise)
- What to ask them in order to avoid ever hearing a “no”, or ever feeling embarrassed (see the free training in your Member’s Area)
From there on the new person MUST DO NOTHING. Their mentor MUST take over for them to answer any questions, to interview the prospective recruit, and to enrol and train that new person, just as if they were his/her own prospect. The mentor will continue to do this for the entire team, as many levels deep as necessary, until the new person is sufficiently confident and COMPETENT to take over the role of mentor also, of course staying in close touch with other leaders.
All the while the mentor is providing this hands-on training and support, the new person MUST be given 100% of the profits generated on their behalf.
The Importance of SIMPLICITY
The more complex your marketing/induction/training system, the less likely it will work, the less likely it will stick. So everything must be as simple and streamlined as possible. This helps the learning curve enormously, and means that even new people do actually feel very confident very quickly. It’s no longer so daunting as it might have seemed initially because at every stage they’ve experience the ease and simplicity.
So the process is an extraordinarily simple 3-stepper which looks a little like this:
- Invite the right person in the right way to take a look (book them into the presentation video)
- If they want to know more, book them into a 3-way appointment with the mentor (if all 3 can meet simultaneously, so that the new person can see what happens in this follow up call, and can see that their prospects are treated with the greatest respect)
- The mentor enrols the new person (if they’re suitable – remember we are not going to enrol unsuitable people), and teaches them to do step 1.
Part of enrolment will be to purchase starting product, whether this a something tiny or whether this is the “whole box and dice” of a quick-start package of high-demand products so that the new person comes up to speed on products very fast. Thus the recruiting process is tied to product purchase and therefore commissions are generated for the new person.
What Is Required for the New Person to Get to the Magical $375 a Month?
This will differ from company to company and I can only tell you the facts for one company that I recommend. There are several ways that this amount can be reached but I’ll give the most common, which is to reach Executive pin level by overseeing around $4500 worth of product sales in a 3-month period.
Years ago it used to take a long time to get to that level, but on average it takes around 8 weeks these days because people are tending to purchase the anti-aging skin care and supplements month after month and the customer base builds very fast. For example just 11 customers purchasing a high-demand product every month, would keep someone at Executive pin level, where an audit of incomes has shown that the average income at Executive level is $361 per month. Just one more customer, or a budding distributor in the network, will easily out perform the average.
In order to earn greater and greater amounts of commissions, we simply have to repeat this same process with new distributors in this person’s team. At “Team Elite” level the minimum average income is around $30,000 a month, with many earning very much more than that. Not everyone wants to build that strongly, but for those who do the strategy, structure and support is there.
